TEN STRAIGHT VICTORIES AND ONLY 4 POINTS FROM THE LEADER 01/03/2009   13:27:24

Real Madrid won their tenth consecutive game on Saturday and are now only 4 points form the top of the League table. Juande’s team won the match against Espanyol in Montjuic 0-2, with goals from Guti and Raul in the second half.

The Real Madrid Coach said after the match: “We had been through a good patch, we were all on cloud nine and then the result against Liverpool really hurt. We tried to recover and get the team back to normal, which is why these three points today were crucial.”

Everything seems to be returning to the original plan: the team continue to move forward, the players are improving, Guti has recovered from his injury and is bringing more to the team, Raul once again showed his dedication and team spirit, playing in midfield in the first half and moving forward when Guti and Marcelo came on.

Real Madrid is innately optimistic and show dedication and team work. Juande points out: “In the first half, Raul played with two strikers in front of him, he took on the role as midfielder. Once again he has played excellently and been rewarded with a goal.”

All these characteristics have made Real Madrid into a team that make history every week. With ten consecutive wins in the League competition, Juande’s Madrid are going through their best moment in the last 46 years, they have two points more than they did this time last year and their Captain continues to make records.

Juande Ramos now exceeds the record set by Luis Molowny and is only behind Miguel Muñoz, who won eleven consecutive games in 1962/63 and a staggering fifteen straight wins in 1960/61. Juande is nearing his personal record of thirteen straight victories with Levante UD in 1994/95 in the Second B Division.
